Hi! My name is Ashley Catronio and I'm a 33 year old Breast Cancer Survivor. I was diagnosed with late stage II breast cancer on my son’s first birthday. After having my womanhood stripped from me head to toe it took a while for me to get back to "normal". Doctors told me that my quality of life would never be the same. I was only 29 at the time.
After 16 round of chemo, a double mastectomy, 33 round of radiation and my current monthly treatments I decided I was going to be a statistic. I discovered Wakesurfing through my husband Brock Catronio and have been hooked. It brought me back to life. It in many ways saved me more the chemo did. My goal is to not just support the young women who are going through breast cancer but to also support what happens next. After losing my hair, my boobs and and being poked and burned over and over again the doctors told me to just go on with my life... but how? We need to help these women who have been robbed of so many things find a way to navigate life after cancer.
Thank you especially to Jimmy Lariche and the Miami Nautique family for supporting me in this goal of helping you girls and women navigate life during and after cancer.
This day is suppose to be about having fun while bringing veterans of the wake community together with the novice. I'm so excited to bring this to life. Thank you everyone for the love and support.
